Generally, no. Medicare and most major medical plans require deductibles, co-payments, and balance billing. Your out-of-pocket costs can run into hundreds or thousands of dollars even for a short stay. The Hospital HELP Plan pays a flat cash benefit to help cover those gaps.
Absolutely not. There are NO medical exams or health questions when you sign up. As a VFW Member, you and your spouse are GUARANTEED coverage regardless of your age or current health (subject to the pre-existing condition provision).
Yes. Once your coverage goes into effect, you are immediately covered for any new injuries or sicknesses. Any condition treated in the last 12 months will not be covered until you’ve gone 12 consecutive months without treatment for it, or been covered for one continuous year — whichever comes first.
No. There is NO LIMIT to the number of claims you can make. You can never be singled out as an individual for cancellation or a rate increase, no matter how often you are hospitalized.
Hospital HELP covers VA care too — $60/day for Days 1–14 and $120/day for Days 15–30, even if your VA care costs you nothing at all.
No problem. You have a 30-Day Free Look. If you’re not completely satisfied after reviewing your Certificate of Insurance, just let us know. We’ll cancel your coverage and issue a 100% refund of all premiums paid, as long as no claims have been made.
